A few weeks ago, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. That’s my mom there in the center of the photo from my parents’ 60th wedding anniversary party, which we celebrated two years ago.
Like millions of other families, we weren’t expecting to join a battle against a notorious enemy this year. It’s serious business. But my mom is resolved to fight, and we will have her back as she does so (prayers appreciated).
These past few weeks have been a whirlwind of doctor’s appointments, tests, a brief hospital stay, and treatments. And I’ve been trying to accompany my mom as often as I can. I have actually been a little amazed that I’ve been able to keep up with my regular publication schedule. But this week, it all caught up with me, and I needed to cry uncle.
Although I don’t have new things to tell you this week, it’s a terrific chance for you to catch up with issues you might have missed. Below I’m featuring the ones with the topics I found hardest to write about—which often means they are the ones that contain the most worthwhile things I could tell you.
